tech services
While pursuing my career in architecture, I have, along the way, become a proficient tech support analyst. Computers and technology have been a passion of mine since I was young, when I used to mess around on my parent’s Windows 3.1 machine.
While attending Iowa State University, I held several positions in the Information Technology department. More specifically, in the Solution Center, the first point of contact for tech support in the university, supporting faculty, staff, and students, creating a user base of over 22,ooo users. I worked as a tech support over phone, email, and in person, and eventually became a student manager and an intern in the department, managing the knowledgebase of answers and FAQs that were used by all memebers of the department. While working at Iowa State IT, I became proficient in solving problems with:
- Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7
- Virus removal
- Mac OS X 10.3 and up
- Ubuntu and Redhat Linux
- iOS
- Driod OS
- Exchange 2007 and 2010
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Adobe CS5.5 and 6
My abilities to manage problems and present solutions have informed my design career, and continue to be useful in the field of architecture. I have become adept and managing groups of employees and organizing an office to increase productivity and morale.
I still continue to work as a private tech support consultant. If you are having home issues with things such as:
- Viruses
- Installations
- Custom Computer Builds and Pricing
- Home Networking
- Media Center Setup
- PC Repair
You may email me at bsw@iastate.edu, and I will provide with you a quote for a solution. I do not charge for initial calls, and only charge for in-house diagnostics. If I can’t fix the problem, I will find you a person who can.
